“I guess we are the press” or “Please allow me to reintroduce ourselves”

January 27, 2010

Yesterday was a big day for us in many ways:  we beat a number of news outlets, that we really admire, to the punch on the Toyota story (some are still barely covering it);  We had our best day in terms of visitors; and we strayed away from our standard fare into *gasp* real news.

First, to our old readers, I want to make a promise – over the next few months we are going to keep doing the same drives, videos,  photography, gear reviews, and music suggestions that we know you love.  Content will be exploding as the weather gets nice.

Second, to all readers, I want to make another promise – we will continue our coverage of Toyotagate© until the conclusion.  I, on a personal level, believe this is an even bigger story than simply Toyota suspending sales and we will see it through in as much depth and breadth as possible.

Lastly, to our new readers, I encourage you to stick around and check things out.  We cover the automotive world in a whole new way.  We don’t cover it from the cars’ point of view, or the car manufactures’ point of view, but rather from your point of view as a driver.  Over the next few weeks I will be linking back to old videos and stories so that you can get caught up from where we have been, and get a sense of where we are going.

So stay tuned.  In the next 24 hours we will have more posts about the Toyota situation, including an in-depth analysis of the issue itself, the time-line, and the potential business impact; and we will likely have a traditional ERT style post or two.

Thanks for joining us,

Paul and Will
